A conversation with Anne Marie
To celebrate LIEWOOD’s 10-year anniversary, we sat down with our founder, Anne Marie Lie Norvig, in her beautiful summer house in Vejby for a conversation about ten years of LIEWOOD — a decade of design, family, and heartfelt creativity.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Anne Marie Lie Norvig, Founder & CEO of LIEWOOD. I grew up in a small village in northern Jutland, with my parents and my sister. Those roots shaped me – family, simplicity, connection — values that have guided me throughout my life.
You’ve mentioned that those values played a big part in creating LIEWOOD. What inspired you to start the brand?
After a decade in fashion, helping other brands grow, I dreamed of creating my own. When I became a mother, I searched for products that were beautiful, practical, and safe. When I couldn’t find them, I decided to create them. That was the beginning of LIEWOOD.
It’s been ten years since then. How would you describe the journey?
The journey has been powerful, ambitious, busy, sometimes even a little crazy, but always a dream coming true. The world around us has been unpredictable; it has demanded resilience but made us stronger and more rooted in what we stand for.
What continues to inspire you today?
I find inspiration everywhere; in travelling, art and architecture, food, work, and friendships. But above all, my children inspire me the most. They remind me every day of what truly matters.
Looking back, is there a product or moment you feel especially proud of?
I don’t measure success in single products, though I feel especially connected to our outerwear, where design, sustainability, and function come together. What matters most is seeing families embrace LIEWOOD as part of their everyday lives. That feeling — of walking down the street and seeing a child in our designs — is one of the greatest achievements.
And now, reaching this milestone, what does LIEWOOD’s 10th anniversary mean to you?
This anniversary is deeply personal. It’s a moment to reflect on what we’ve created, what we’ve overcome, and how far we’ve come together. I feel proud and grateful — for my team, our customers, and the entire LIEWOOD community. Together, we have built something that truly matters, and that is worth celebrating.
